Tankathon’s latest 2027 NFL mock draft has the Cleveland Browns selecting Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin with the No. 12 overall pick, adding another name to a franchise still searching for a long-term answer under center.
Sayin sits behind Jeremiah Smith, Arch Manning, Dante Moore and C.J. Carr on the same board. The 6-foot-1, 214-pound junior from Carlsbad, California, is the fourth quarterback projected in the first round.
He is 38 of 57 this season for 598 yards, four touchdowns and one interception, a 66.7 completion rate and a 174.4 passer rating through two games.
Sayin completed 21 of 25 passes for 320 yards and three scores in a 56-3 win over Ball State. He was 17 of 32 for 278 yards, one touchdown and one interception in a 24-23 loss at Texas.
Those early numbers follow a 2025 breakout. Sayin completed 77.0 percent of his passes for 3,610 yards, 32 touchdowns and eight interceptions, a Big Ten single-season completion record. He finished fourth in Heisman Trophy voting and was Big Ten Freshman of the Year.
Career totals stand at 4,292 passing yards, 37 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 20 games after a brief stop at Alabama.
Cleveland opened 0-1 with a 34-10 loss at Jacksonville. Deshaun Watson went 16 of 22 for 205 yards, one touchdown and one interception in his first start in 23 months.
Coach Todd Monken said Monday that Watson will start again in Week 2 against Tampa Bay.
“I anticipate Deshaun will be our starter,” Monken said. “I confirmed it when I looked at the tape. We’ve got to play better around him. We’ve got to call it better, and he’s got to play better.”
Watson is 9-11 as Cleveland’s starter since the 2022 trade from Houston. Shedeur Sanders remains the backup. The Browns also own a projected extra first-round pick from the Los Angeles Rams.
Sayin’s accuracy is the calling card. Scouts have questioned his size and how he holds up when the pocket collapses. The Texas tape offered a harder look than Ball State.

A Sayin pick at No. 12 would not require the top of the draft. Manning, Moore and Carr would already be gone in this mock. The Browns could still use a second first-rounder on help elsewhere.
The order will move with the standings. One week does not lock a pick. Watson’s next starts and Sayin’s next tests will rewrite the board.
