Former Colorado Buffaloes wide receiver Sincere Brown just had his contract terminated by the Los Angeles Chargers, ending a brief NFL stay that began as an undrafted free-agent signing after the 2026 draft (via Spotrac.com’s NFL transaction log).

Brown was waived/injured in late August, cleared waivers and reverted to injured reserve, then was released with an injury settlement.

The undisclosed injury and limited preseason work — one target, no catch against San Francisco — closed the door in Los Angeles. He is now a free agent and can seek another opportunity.

For Buffs fans, the news lands with a familiar mix of disappointment and perspective. Colorado did not have a player selected in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Brown was one of six former Buffaloes who still found a professional landing spot, signing with Jim Harbaugh’s Chargers on April 27. The program has sent at least one undrafted free agent to a final 53-man roster in each of the last 11 seasons. Brown’s path was always going to be an uphill fight.

His only year in Boulder, 2025, was a graduate-transfer season under Deion Sanders.

The 6-foot-5 receiver from Charleston, S.C., started 11 of 12 games and led Colorado’s wideouts in snaps (626). He finished with 22 catches for 376 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 17.1 yards per reception.

The signature moment came early: four catches, 120 yards and a 71-yard touchdown against Delaware, the kind of vertical strike that explained why CU pursued him after a monster FCS season at Campbell (61-1,028-12). Production cooled as the Buffs struggled to a 3-9 finish, but he stayed on the field and in the starting lineup.

That combination — size, speed, and a late-blooming résumé — was enough for Los Angeles to take a look. It was not enough to survive final cuts once injury entered the picture.

Brown’s college journey was never linear: three quiet years at South Florida, a breakout at Campbell, one season as a Buff. The Chargers chapter lasted a few months.

For Colorado, he remains part of a recent wave of transfers who bought into Coach Prime’s program and then chased the next level without hearing their names called on draft weekend.

Whether another team gives him a practice-squad or camp look remains to be seen.

From a Boulder angle, the story is simple: a one-year Buffalo who earned an NFL shot, ran into the numbers and an injury, and now starts over — the same grind many CU UDFAs have faced before him.
