The Denver Broncos have waived rookie wide receiver Kyre Duplessis, ending his short tenure with the team just three weeks after signing him.

The move was part of a flurry of roster adjustments ahead of the preseason finale against the Minnesota Vikings. Denver also released veteran safety Taylor Rapp and signed offensive tackle Foster Sarell and defensive tackle Israel Antwine.

Duplessis, an undrafted free agent out of Delaware, joined the Broncos on Aug. 7 after a successful tryout. He had previously been with the Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks earlier in the offseason.

The signing came as Denver dealt with injuries and rest days at receiver, including issues involving Jaylen Waddle and Marvin Mims Jr. and veteran rest for Courtland Sutton.

In college, Duplessis finished with 83 receptions for 1,172 yards and six touchdowns. He spent four seasons at Coastal Carolina before transferring to Delaware for his final year.

There, he broke out, catching 60 passes for 824 yards and a team-high five touchdowns while earning first-team All-Conference USA honors. At 5-foot-10 and about 185-193 pounds, he was viewed as a route-running, high-effort depth piece.

His time in Denver was limited. Duplessis appeared in the Broncos’ first two preseason games but did not record a target.

With roster spots tight and the 53-man deadline approaching after the third exhibition game, the team opted to move on. Cuts of this kind are common for late-arriving undrafted players who do not immediately stand out on special teams or in limited offensive snaps.

The corresponding additions of Sarell and Antwine address depth on the offensive and defensive lines. Rapp’s release was attributed by head coach Sean Payton to a personal matter; Payton left the door open for a possible return later.

For Duplessis, the waiver means he becomes a free agent and can be claimed by another team or signed to a practice squad.

Undrafted receivers often bounce between camps before finding a foothold. Duplessis showed production and conference honors in his last college season, which may attract interest from clubs looking for inexpensive depth or special-teams contributors. For now, his Broncos chapter is closed after a three-week look during training camp.

Denver’s receiver room remains crowded with established names and other young additions.

The latest transactions reflect typical late-August roster management as teams finalize groups for the regular season. Duplessis will look for his next opportunity elsewhere.
