The Los Angeles Dodgers revealed that two-way phenom Shohei Ohtani amassed 12 total bases during Monday’s Game 3, setting a new franchise benchmark for the World Series.

In the seventh inning, Ohtani launched his second homer of the evening, leveling the score at five against the Toronto Blue Jays. Through that point in World Series Game 3, the Dodgers’ standout had gone a perfect 4-for-4, including a pair of doubles.

Additionally, Ohtani stands alone as the sole player in playoff history to record at least one starting pitching appearance alongside several home runs within the same postseason. Across their entire playoff careers, only Ohtani and Babe Ruth have achieved multiple mound starts combined with over two round-trippers.

Ruth tallied 15 homers and three starts in the postseason, whereas Ohtani has notched 11 home runs and two starts in playoff action.

Over his most recent seven plate appearances at Dodger Stadium, Ohtani has delivered five homers and two doubles. Although his batting exploits have been extraordinary, the two-way sensation is slated to toe the rubber in Game 4 of the World Series.

The Dodgers’ versatile ace showcased his dominance in the National League Championship Series, where he blasted three home runs and tossed six shutout innings while fanning 10 batters.Prior to his standout outing in NLCS Game 4, Ohtani had been mired in a significant hitting drought.

That said, any signs of a playoff funk appear to have vanished, as Ohtani kept etching his name into the record books during Monday night’s Game 3 at Dodger Stadium.

The Fall Classic’s Games 4 and 5 are scheduled for Dodger Stadium, with the series potentially returning to Toronto for Games 6 and 7 if necessary.

Ohtani is expected to pitch and bat as the Dodgers’ designated hitter on Tuesday at Chavez Ravine, leaving fans eager to see what feats the two-way marvel will accomplish next.
