The Philadelphia Eagles ended their two-game skid with a victory against the Minnesota Vikings last Sunday, but challenges persist, particularly in their secondary.
Right now, the cornerback position remains a weak spot, and the team could benefit from adding depth alongside Quinyon Mitchell.
The Eagles are reportedly exploring options to bolster their cornerback group, and Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report has suggested an intriguing candidate: Tennessee Titans cornerback Roger McCreary.
“McCreary hasn’t exactly thrived in Tennessee’s defense, but few players have,” Knox wrote. “He was taken 35th overall in the 2022 draft and should bring a decent return based on draft status alone. If the Titans are truly desperate for picks, cashing in McCreary would be logical, since he’s an impending 2026 free agent. And while he hasn’t developed into a top-tier cornerback, his combination of age (25) and upside is intriguing.”
This season, McCreary has shown solid performance, recording 30 tackles, one interception, and two passes defended, with a Pro Football Focus coverage grade of 68.6.
Since entering the NFL in 2022 as an Auburn product, McCreary has been a near-consistent starter for the Titans. His standout season was 2023, when he amassed 86 tackles, two sacks, one interception, and six passes defended, earning a 72.2 coverage grade.
While McCreary may not be a marquee name, he could offer a clear improvement over Kelee Ringo, who has struggled significantly this year. Knox estimates McCreary’s trade value at a fourth-round pick, a feasible cost for Philadelphia given their stockpile of 2026 draft picks, including five selections in Rounds 3 and 4. However, with McCreary in the final year of his contract, the Eagles risk acquiring a short-term player.
On the other hand, this also means no long-term financial commitment if the move doesn’t pan out. Philadelphia’s secondary needs urgent attention if they hope to defend their Super Bowl title effectively.
Whether McCreary is the answer is uncertain, but he presents a compelling option for the Eagles to consider.
