Dallas Cowboys legend DeMarcus Ware recently opened up about one of the most challenging moments of his NFL career, revealing a shocking accusation about the Philadelphia Eagles fanbase. Speaking with Fox News, Ware recounted how fans at Lincoln Financial Field targeted his mother with dangerous objects during his rookie season.

Ware, who played for the Dallas Cowboys from 2005 to 2013, recalled the incident from his first game at the Eagles’ home stadium. His mother, who was seated in the front row, was struck by a battery-filled snowball thrown by fans.

“My rookie season when my mom was in the stands, I told her not to wear my jersey,” Ware shared. “She was in the front row, and we were up there in Philly, they were putting batteries in snowballs and throwing them, and one of them hit my mom.”

Despite his anger in the moment, Ware decided against confronting the fans responsible for the attack, reflecting later that it was a wise decision. “I turned around at the time, and I didn’t care about football anymore,” he admitted. “I wanted to go get the guy who was in the stands. But I didn’t.”

The accusations come when Eagles fans are under scrutiny for recent incidents involving inappropriate behavior. Just last Sunday, during a win over the Green Bay Packers, a female Packers fan was verbally assaulted by an Eagles supporter, who was later identified and fired from their job. This incident sparked even more negative attention toward the Eagles’ fanbase, contributing to the ongoing backlash.

In addition to Ware’s account, rookie Los Angeles Rams edge rusher Jared Verse shared his disdain for Eagles fans. Ahead of the Rams’ divisional round game in Philadelphia, Verse told The Los Angeles Times, “I hate Eagles fans. They’re so annoying. I hate Eagles fans. When I see that green and white I hate it. I actually get upset. Like I actually genuinely get hot.”

The stories from DeMarcus Ware and Verse shine a light on the often-hostile reputation of Philadelphia Eagles fans, as the team prepares for another playoff run.
