The Las Vegas Raiders ultimately didn’t take a quarterback in the NFL Draft this past spring, but that doesn’t mean they didn’t want to.

The Raiders had the 13th overall pick, but all six quarterback that got drafted in the first round flew off the board before Las Vegas was on the clock.

Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams has revealed that the team actually wanted to select Jayden Daniels, who went to the Washington Commanders No. 2 overall.

Daniels enjoyed a breakout performance in the Commanders’ win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night, going 21-for-23 with 254 yards and a couple of touchdowns while also carrying the ball 12 times for 39 yards and a score.

In three games this season overall, Daniels has thrown for 664 yards and a couple of scores. He also leads the NFL in completion percentage (80.3 percent) and boasts a 111.8 passer rating.

Las Vegas ended up selecting tight end Brock Bowers with its first-round pick. It also signed Gardner Minshew in free agency, and Minshew proceeded to beat out Aidan O’Connell for the team’s starting quarterback job.

Minshew has been up and down through the Raiders’ first three games of 2024, totaling 747 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions.

Head coach Antonio Pierce is not yet ready to make a change under center, but you have to wonder if he will go back to O’Connell—who was the starter last year—if things don’t get better for Minshew.

Meanwhile, Adams is likely wishing Las Vegas had a chance to select Daniels.

Davante Adams has logged 18 catches for 209 yards and a touchdown on the season thus far.

The Las Vegas Raiders will host the Cleveland Browns this Sunday.
