Arizona Diamondbacks Corbin Carroll to Undergo Testing

Arizona Diamondbacks centerfielder Corbin Carroll has not had a great 2024 campaign. After winning the National League Rookie of the Year award in 2023, he has taken a major step back across the board with his production.

To make matters worse, he is now dealing with a nagging injury. On Sunday against the Chicago White Sox, Corbin Carrol exited the game early because of some discomfort on his left side.

Following an awkward-looking throw from centerfield in the seventh inning, he was removed from the game. The Arizona Diamondbacks went on to win the game 12-5, but all of their focus and concern was on their centerfielder.

Luckily, the injury doesn’t sound too severe. While testing is set to be done, as Corbin Carroll will undergo an MRI today, he did say he was feeling better after the game. The testing sounds more precautionary than anything.

“Went to throw and just felt a pull feeling, not super painful, very general,” Carroll said. “But all indications are leaning to the positive. I hope to be out there for the Washington series.”

That is certainly an encouraging sign, but he won’t be traveling with the Arizona Diamondbacks as they embark on an East Coast trip. He has remained in Phoenix, while the team travels to start a three-game series against the Washington Nationals on Tuesday night.

After the three-game set against the Nationals, the Arizona Diamondbacks will have a three-game set against the National League-leading Philadelphia Phillies. With a record of 35-37, Arizona is one of nine teams within two games of each other in the standings.

Thus far this season, Corbin Carroll is slashing .213/.302/.310, a far cry from the .285/.362/.506 he had during the 2023 season. He does lead the MLB with five triples on the season, but is way off his stolen base pace from last year, when he had 54, with only 12 through 70 games.
