Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson was present at the team’s practice on Monday. Most importantly, he was on the field taking part in workouts and drills with his teammates, something that had not happened in a few weeks.

More than a month ago, Bijan Robinson suffered what he referred to as a “light sprain” to his left ankle. It was something that actually occurred during his rookie season, and started bothering him once offseason workouts picked up.

“It was just like kind of feeling weird, like on the side,” Robinson said of the ankle. “So, I was just trying to make sure I don’t feel it at all before I come back in.”

The plan, according to Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris, was to have their star running back on the field for mandatory minicamp next week. Alas, he was feeling good enough to get on the field this week, as he is ahead of schedule.

Bijan Robinson added that he feels “close” to 100 percent healthy. Given where we are in the NFL calendar, there is zero reason for him to push things if something feels off. This is why it is encouraging to see him out there, as the team wouldn’t put him on the field if he wasn’t near 100 percent healthy as he says.

The Texas product, who the Atlanta Falcons selected No. 8 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, played at a high level as a rookie. He carried the ball 214 times, gaining 976 yards with four scores. A true dual threat, he also caught 58 passes for 487 yards and four more scores.

Heading into Year 2, those numbers should jump even more. The entire Falcons’ offense should improve with Kirk Cousins under center and a new coaching philosophy could mean Bijan Robinson doesn’t have to split work with two other players.
