NBA Draft prospect Bronny James recently delivered a standout performance for USC, marking a high point in his debut college season. As a five-star freshman guard, James contributed 11 points, six assists, and five rebounds in 30 minutes despite USC’s 82-67 defeat to Arizona on Wednesday.

USC’s head coach Andy Enfield admired James, particularly in light of his recovery from a cardiac arrest during a summer workout.

“The young man went through a situation this summer medically that was very difficult and challenging,” Enfield said, via Michael Lev of the Arizona Daily Star. “Bronny James, he has no ego. He’s just a terrific teammate. He’s so easy to coach because he just wants to get better. And I think you see it. He played well (Wednesday) and he is getting better.

“The expectations are one thing, and then you go through a medical emergency like that. I’m just happy he’s out there competing and getting better. I’m thrilled. I’m thrilled with him. He’s everything you want in a basketball player and a young man.”

After the Los Angeles Lakers had defeated the Dallas Mavericks, Bronny’s father, LeBron James, was focused on watching the game on a locker room television. At the same time, reporters asked him questions during his availability.

“Watching college basketball alone is tough,” James said. “When you add my son in there, it’s even … it’s hard to watch. I’m a dad but also love the game of basketball and college basketball just … it’s like 10 people in the paint at same time. It’s very hard at times to watch.”
