The recent performance of the Los Angeles Lakers has been a cause for concern, especially following their latest defeat, marking their fourth consecutive loss. LeBron James expressed his frank disappointment after losing 127-113 to the Memphis Grizzlies during Friday’s NBA action, stating, “I mean, we just suck right now.”

This downturn in form is particularly striking given the Lakers’ victory in the league’s new in-season tournament. However, their record has disappointed since that achievement, with only three wins in the following 13 games. This slump is alarming for a team with high aspirations for the season.

James downplayed the significance of the team’s earlier success, dismissing it as a brief highlight. He remarked, “That was just two games,” referring to the in-season tournament. Despite winning it, he emphasized that it was a minor part of the season and should not distract from the team’s struggles.

“That was just two games,” James said. “It’s a small sample. Everyone is getting so cracked up about Vegas and keeps bringing up Vegas. It was two games. We took care of that business. It was the in-season tournament, we played it, we won it. But that was literally just two games.”

With a record of 17-19, the Lakers are in 11th place in the Western Conference standings. This position underlines the need for significant improvement if they aim to be a formidable contender. Given James not having much time left in his NBA career, there must be urgency to capitalize on having him on the roster.

The Lakers’ next game is against the Los Angeles Clippers. This upcoming match is viewed as a potential turning point where they could halt their losing streak, especially against their local rivals.
