The Indiana Pacers remain interested in trading for Toronto Raptors star Pascal Siakam, according to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
The Raptors are expected to continue to explore trades involving Siakam after trading OG Anunoby to the New York Knicks for RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley.
Siakam becomes an unrestricted free agent after this season. Teams have to be careful trading for the NBA champion since he could be a rental player.
Siakam is averaging 22.4 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists this season while shooting 51.8% from the field, 28.5% from beyond the arc and 74.9% from the free-throw line. The two-time All-Star is making $37.9 million.

Any team that trades for Siakam this season can only offer him a two-year extension. Siakam, if he’s traded, is unlikely to sign an extension, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.
The Pacers have been linked to Siakam since last offseason. They are 18-14 on the season, good for sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings. Indiana could make some serious noise in the East if the front office paired Siakam with Tyrese Haliburton, one of the top point guards in the NBA.
Siakam has career averages of 17.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.6 blocks. He has made two All-NBA teams. Siakam, 29, also won the 2018-19 Most Improved Player of the Year Award.

The last time the Pacers made a blockbuster trade was in February 2022. Indiana sent Domantas Sabonis to the Sacramento Kings for Haliburton and Buddy Hield. It will be fascinating to see if the Pacers acquire Siakam this season.
