The Los Angeles Lakers have announced that their key player, NBA superstar LeBron James, is questionable for the upcoming game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday night due to a non-COVID illness.

In addition, Cam Reddish is likely to play, being listed as probable after missing the recent game against the Charlotte Hornets because of a groin injury.

This game against the Timberwolves is the first back-to-back set for the Lakers, who are also scheduled to face the New Orleans Pelicans on New Year’s Eve. With such a schedule, whether James or Anthony Davis will be available for both games often arises.

James, who has sat out three games this season due to various minor issues, might miss the Timberwolves game due to his illness but could return for Sunday’s matchup against the Pelicans. This would be the first game he’s missed this season due to an illness.

The Timberwolves hold the top record in the Western Conference and are second in the NBA overall. While James’ illness is genuine, the Lakers might also consider focusing on defeating the Pelicans rather than the conference-leading Timberwolves.

However, the Lakers are expected to welcome Reddish back to the lineup after his absence due to a groin injury, which thankfully only caused him to miss one game.

Reddish has been a regular starter since December 2, and with James’ possible absence, Reddish could immediately return to the starting lineup. Rui Hachimura had started in place of Reddish during Thursday’s game.
