Eagles’ Star Defender Makes Massive Statement On His Future

Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Brandon Graham wants to play one more season, and he is hoping it ends up being with the only NFL franchise he has ever known.

Following the Eagles’ Wild Card Round loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night, Graham spoke about his future.

“It’ll be my farewell tour next year,” Graham said, via NBC Sports Philadelphia. “If the Eagles want me to do it one more time, I would love to be here for another year because I know we have something special. … I’ll be done next year.”

Graham did not specify if he would still play football in 2024 if it weren’t in Philadelphia, but given how strongly he feels about Philly, it would be surprising if the two sides didn’t work something out.

The 35-year-old played in every game this season but had a very limited role, logging 16 tackles and three sacks. He did, however, manage to register five tackles and a sack against the Buccaneers.

Graham, who played his collegiate football at the University of Michigan, was selected by the Eagles with the 13th overall pick of the 2010 NFL Draft.

His first couple of seasons in Philadelphia were marred by injuries, but once he got healthy, Graham became a critical part off Philly’s front seven. As a matter of fact, between 2012 and 2020, he missed just one game. He made his lone Pro Bowl appearance in 2020, recording 46 tackles, eight sacks, a couple of forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.

Strangely enough, Graham’s best season actually came last year, when he racked up 35 tackles, 11 sacks and a pair of forced fumbles.

The Eagles got off to a 10-1 start this year, but lost five of their last six regular-season games to finish 11-6 before ultimately being eliminated by Tampa Bay.

This comes a year after Philadelphia made it all the way to the Super Bowl.
