Eagles QB Jalen Hurts’ Demeanor Is A Big Part Of The Problem

The Philadelphia Eagles lost five of their last six regular-season games to back into the playoffs, and now, some are wondering if Jalen Hurts’ behavior is one of the primary issues for the team’s decline.

Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer says that there is a running belief in the Eagles’ organization that a change in Hurts’ demeanor could go a long way in helping the club.

“If he can open himself up a little more, improve his body language, and take more ownership even when he’s not at fault, it could help the team in times of distress,” McLane wrote of the team’s feelings toward Hurts.

It’s a rather strange development, given that Hurts has been widely praised for his leadership qualities since taking over as Philadelphia’s full-time starting quarterback in 2021.

But apparently, Hurts has not exactly ingratiated himself to teammates and those within Philly’s organization this season.

Hurts threw for 3,858 yards, 23 touchdowns and 15 interceptions while completing 65.4 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 89.1 this season. In addition, he rushed for 605 yards and 15 scores.

Back in November, the Eagles were 10-1 and appeared to be on the verge of making it to the Super Bowl for the second year in a row. They even looked like championship favorites.

Since then, however, Philadelphia has gone just 1-5, most recently suffering an embarrassing blowout loss to the New York Giants in the regular-season finale. Hurts dislocated his finger in the defeat, but he will be on the field when Philly battles the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in its Wild Card Round matchup on Monday night.

We’ll see if Hurts can deliver in the playoffs after having a rather rough regular season. If not, we may end up hearing more questions about Jalen Hurts’ attitude this offseason.
