The outcome of the Dallas Cowboys’ season was always going to be a significant factor in Mike McCarthy’s job security, and as things stand, it appears that Jerry Jones might be considering a major coaching change.

In the latest edition of Football Morning In America, Peter King suggested that if Dallas decides to move in a different direction, Bill Belichick could become a central figure in the decision.

“I can’t believe Jerry Jones, with a star [fading though he is] like Bill Belichick on the free market, wouldn’t go hard after him to try to salvage this era of Cowboys history.”

It’s challenging to envision McCarthy retaining his position after another season with a 12-5 record that concluded in bitter disappointment. However, the Cowboys showed patience with head coach Jason Garrett in the past, despite enduring their fair share of heartbreak.

Jones and company have the talent on the roster to make a deep playoff run. There wouldn’t be a better situation to join for contention purposes than Dallas for Bill Belichick.

Considering the current football landscape, Dallas could offer the best opportunity for Belichick to return to his winning ways. Bringing a Super Bowl trophy back to Big D for the first time since the Clinton administration could certainly strengthen his legacy argument alongside Brady.

Only time will tell if the Cowboys are going to make a coaching change and then whether or not they go after Belichick. However, this move would make sense for both parties.
