The Washington Huskies seem prepared to replace head coach Kalen DeBoer quickly if he decides to accept the offer from Alabama.

DeBoer is currently in negotiations with Alabama to become their next head coach, although the deal has not been officially sealed yet. However, Washington seems to have a potential replacement in their offensive coordinator, Ryan Grubb.

According to information from Ross Dellenger, Grubb had opportunities to become a head coach in the Group of Five conferences but chose to stay with Washington, making him a strong internal candidate.

While Washington could consider external candidates as well, it’s evident that Grubb is the frontrunner if DeBoer decides to depart.

DeBoer has recently led Washington to a national title appearance and has made significant strides with the program. In his two seasons as head coach, he boasts an impressive 25-3 record and has achieved at least 11 wins in both seasons.

The situation will become clearer once a final decision is reached regarding DeBoer’s potential move to Alabama. Thankfully, the Washington Huskies are not terribly blindsided and would be ready to move quickly.
