A player from the Michigan Wolverines’ national championship-winning team appears to be making a change following their triumphant season on Monday night.
As reported by Pete Nakos of On3.com, wide receiver Jake Thaw has made the decision to enter the transfer portal after dedicating four years to the Wolverines. During this season, he was responsible for handling 16 punts for UM, in addition to a kickoff.
Thaw may not be missed a ton on the offensive side of the ball, but it’s still always strange seeing a player leave a team right after winning a championship.
Throughout the course of the 2023 college football season, Thaw ended up catching no passes. As previously mentioned, he returned 16 punts. On those returns, he picked up 101 return yards.
It will be interesting to see where Thaw ends up. There are quite a few teams around the country that could use help at the wide receiver position. Perhaps a bigger opportunity will allow Thaw to showcase what the Michigan Wolverines will miss out on by losing him.
Jake Thaw, originally from Westport, CT, still has one year of eligibility left to continue his college football career.
