Exciting playmaker Silas Bolden made headlines this week as he became the latest football talent from Oregon State to enter the transfer portal. Almost immediately, Bolden received ten offers from various college football programs, with one notable offer coming from the Washington Huskies.

On Thursday, the Huskies extended an offer to the 5-foot-8, 157-pound Bolden, presenting him with a compelling decision to ponder.

Among his many options, he could reunite with former Beavers coach Jonathan Smith at Michigan State, join the rebuilding efforts at USC, or become a part of the high-powered offense at the University of Washington, who were set to compete in the national championship game against Michigan on Monday.

In addition to Washington, Bolden received offers from Arizona, Auburn, California, Illinois, Kansas State, Mississippi State, and Utah, showcasing his appeal as a sought-after talent. Notably, Bolden still has one year of eligibility remaining, adding to his desirability for these programs.

What makes Bolden such an enticing prospect is his incredible speed, which allows him to potentially score from anywhere on the field. He has been recognized by the conference as a second-team All-Pac-12 kick returner for the past two seasons, a testament to his dynamic abilities on special teams.

Bolden, originally hailing from Rancho Cucamonga, California, emerged as a standout receiver for the Beavers during the previous season, leading the team with 54 receptions for 746 yards and contributing five touchdowns. Beyond his receiving prowess, he also found the end zone twice through rushing plays and showcased his agility with a 52-yard punt return for a touchdown.

One notable performance came against the Huskies during a rainy November showdown when Bolden caught five passes for 64 yards and returned three kickoffs for 57 yards, even though his team narrowly lost 22-20 to Kalen DeBoer’s squad in Corvallis.

Despite his relatively small stature, Bolden has consistently proven himself on the field, dispelling any doubts about his size hindering his performance. In his own words, “I’m fast. Most people think I can’t jump high, [but] I can jump pretty high.”

He confidently believes he can outperform expectations, even with his size, and has ambitious plans for the upcoming 2023 season, promising fans that they will have to “stay tuned” to witness his exceptional abilities on display. Bolden’s determination and unwavering confidence make him an exciting prospect for any college football program.
