Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle missed his team’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens this past weekend due to an ankle injury, and his status for the club’s critical Week 18 matchup with the Buffalo Bills seems up in the air.

Waddle took in the Dolphins’ walkthrough on Wednesday, but did not practice.

Head coach Mike McDaniel commented on Waddle’s situation and doesn’t seem too sure one way or the other if he will play this Sunday.

“There’s a little time,” McDaniel said, via Adam Beasley of Pro Football Network. “He’ll be working with the training staff today, making sure there’s no setbacks and see where he’s at.”

Waddle initially suffered the ankle injury during Miami’s Week 16 win over the Dallas Cowboys.

“And then if all signs are go, then we’ll give some practice reps a try to see how it responds to that,” added McDaniel. “With a steady communication with everyone involved, we’ll come to a decision on that. The team’s prepared to play without him. But the team would also love to play with him. So we’ll see how his ankle decides.”

The Dolphins’ offense struggled mightily without Waddle on the field in Week 17, as the team mustered just 19 points in its blowout loss to the Ravens.

Miami has been dealing with injury issues to both of its top receivers in recent weeks, as Tyreek Hill missed Week 15 after spraining his ankle during the Dolphins’ Week 14 win over the Tennessee Titans.

Hill was also seen limping off the field following the defeat to Baltimore, so, needless to say, the Dolphins are banged up right now.

Waddle has caught 72 passes for 1,014 yards and four touchdowns this year. He is now in his third NFL season after being taken by Miami with the sixth overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft.

The 25-year-old hauled in 75 receptions for 1,356 yards and eight scores in 2022.

Jaylen Waddle and the Dolphins are 11-5 and will be battling Buffalo for AFC East supremacy this weekend. The winner will capture the division title.
