49ers’ Fred Warner Throws Subtle Shade At Seahawks’ DK Metcalf

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner does not seem too happy with Seattle Seahawks wide receiver D.K. Metcalf, and it’s no surprise why.

After Warner intercepted a pass intended for Metcalf from Drew Lock late in the fourth quarter, Metcalf grabbed hold of Warner as Warner was attempting a lateral, kept hold of him after he had gotten rid of the football and slammed him into the ground. Warner then got up and shoved Metcalf from behind, resulting in an altercation where Metcalf grabbed hold of Warner’s facemask.

Metcalf was ejected for the incident, and afterward, Warner provided his thoughts.

“Yeah, I don’t know what happened, man,” Warner told reporters, via NBC Sports. “I told him he tackles really well and then for some reason he didn’t like that. And I guess what happened, happened and it’s unfortunate, man. He’s got to learn to keep his composure. But happy we came out with the dub.”

The incident comes one week after 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw was ejected for a sideline scuffle during the club’s win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Warner logged eight tackles to go along with the pick in the victory over the Seahawks. On the season overall, he has totaled 107 tackles, a couple of sacks, four interception, three forced fumbles and nine passes defended. He seems well on his way to making a third trip to the Pro Bowl.

The 27-year-old, who played his collegiate football at BYU, was selected by San Francisco in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

It didn’t take long for Warner to make an impact, as he posted 124 tackles during his rookie campaign. His best season to date, however, came last year, when he racked up 130 tackles, a couple of sacks, a pick, a forced fumble and 10 passes defended.

Fred Warner has also earned a pair of First-Team All-Pro selections.

The Niners are 10-3 and will take on the Arizona Cardinals next weekend.
