The Los Angeles Dodgers have set their sights on the 2024 season with great anticipation, fueled by a significant offseason. LA’s free agency frenzy reached its pinnacle with the signing of Shohei Ohtani to a contract that will undoubtedly go down in history. Despite these formidable moves by the Dodgers, the Atlanta Braves, who boasted the best record in MLB at the end of the 2023 season, remain unperturbed.

In a recent quote, Braves’ pitcher AJ Minter spoke out about the Dodgers’ spending and his belief that money doesn’t win baseball games.

“We can be better than we were last year. That’s saying a lot, because we did set a lot of records last year especially on the offensive side. Money doesn’t buy wins. Obviously the Dodgers are a great team, they expect to be right there in the postseason this year. They went out and got some really good players.”

Minter continued on about the topic, even throwing some shade at the New York Mets.

“But we’ve seen it before. I mean, not to pick on the Mets, money is not gonna buy you a World Series, not gonna buy you a division champ. It takes a lot more. It takes guys all pulling together in the clubhouse… I think that’s what separates us from other teams. We treat each other like family… We’re the pedestal of organizations.”

Needless to say, it will be interesting to see how the 2024 MLB season plays out. The Dodgers are certainly favored to win the World Series this season.

While the Dodgers got a lot better this offseason, there are quite a few potential contenders around baseball. There are a lot of teams with rosters that can play with the Dodgers. The Braves are one of those teams.

Do you agree with AJ Minter about the Dodgers’ spending not necessarily meaning wins? We’ll find out in the very near future when the MLB season gets underway.
