Seahawks Slammed With Brutal Take After 49ers Loss

The Seattle Seahawks lost to the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night, dropping them to 3-3 on the season after a 3-0 start.

Earlier in the season, the Seahawks were actually looking like legitimate contenders with Geno Smith under center, but now, it’s becoming apparent that Seattle is probably a pedestrian ballclub.

Bleacher Report’s NFL staff went as far to call the Seahawks pretenders after their third straight loss.

“Peel all that away, though, and you’re left with one sobering reality: These Seahawks aren’t any better or worse than last year’s team,” Bleacher Report wrote. “Their 3-0 start said much more about who they played than what they are. The last three games have told us what they are: mediocre.”

Seattle has gone 9-8 each of the last two seasons. That was enough to get them into the playoffs in 2022, but last year, the Seahawks failed to qualify.

On paper, Seattle does not look all that great. It has a nice receiving corps led by D.K. Metcalf, but Smith, while solid, isn’t great under center, and the defense is pedestrian.

It seems pretty clear that the 49ers are the better team than the Seahawks, and they proved as much with their road win over Seattle on Thursday evening.

Seattle had a very easy schedule over its first three games, and now, it may be starting to show us its true colors as the season progresses.

The Seahawks certainly aren’t terrible, but they aren’t all that good, either. Perhaps they will contend for a playoff spot, but that’s about it.

Seattle will now head on the road to battle the Atlanta Falcons in Week 8. We’ll see if the Seahawks can avoid their fourth straight defeat.
