There have been plenty of Philadelphia 76ers rumors floating around already. With a ton of cap space to spend this offseason, they have been linked as a suitor for several players to help get them over the hump. The most recent 76ers rumors involve Jimmy Butler.

Jimmy Butler is seeking a massive contract extension this offseason. But, early signs are that the Miami Heat won’t be willing to pay what he is seeking. That could lead to a divorce after five seasons together.

If the Heat and Butler are going to part ways, the 76ers are reportedly a team to keep an eye on. According to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, via NBACentral on X, the team regrets trading him to the Heat five years ago.

That is something they could look to rectify this offseason. According to Pompey, if 76ers rumors are to be believed, Philadelphia would be willing to pay Jimmy Butler the huge extension he is seeking.

Jimmy Butler was traded to the 76ers during the 2018-19 season from the Minnesota Timberwolves. It can be argued that is the best team they had around Joel Embiid in his tenure with the franchise, as a Kawhi Leonard buzzer-beater is the only thing that kept them from the Eastern Conference Finals.

A trio of Butler, Embiid and Tyrese Maxey would be as strong as any in the Eastern Conference. But can Philadelphia put so much in the basket of players who have not been able to consistently stay healthy?

Also, Jimmy Butler isn’t as readily available as someone such as Paul George, who is an unrestricted free agent. This is a situation to keep an eye on, as 76ers rumors are sure to heat up as we get closer to the NBA Draft and free agency.
