The Miami Dolphins already have one record-setting wide receiver on their roster when it comes to contracts in Tyreek Hill. Now, they have a second, as Jaylen Waddle has joined the ranks of the highest-paid players at his position.
As shared by ESPN, the Miami Dolphins and Jaylen Waddle have agreed to a three-year, $84.75 million extension. According to NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN, that deal includes $76 million guaranteed. His representation at WME Football negotiated the deal.

The new contract for Jaylen Waddle will run through the 2028 NFL season and places him inside the top five for wide receiver contracts in the league. His guaranteed money is third behind A.J. Brown of the Philadelphia Eagles and Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Detroit Lions. They landed $84 million and $77 million respectively on extensions earlier this offseason.
Jaylen Waddle has had record-setting production to this point in his career with the Miami Dolphins. He set a record with his third straight 1,000-yard season in 2023, and his numbers in his first three seasons with the franchise are all the best.
The No. 6 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Alabama, Jaylen Waddle has 251 receptions for 3,385 yards and 18 touchdowns in 47 games. His rookie season numbers of 104 receptions and 1,015 yards are also the most for a first-year player in Miami Dolphins history,
While his contract numbers are in the top five currently, they likely won’t be that way for very long. Those numbers could all be blown away once deals for Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase are completed.
Jefferson is seeking a contract reminiscent of what a quarterback would receive from the Minnesota Vikings. Chase likely isn’t far off of seeking that in negotiations with the Cincinnati Bengals.
His teammate, Tee Higgins, and Brandon Aiyuk of the San Francisco 49ers are also seeking long-term deals. The wide receiver market has boomed in recent seasons and all of those players are set to cash in.
