New England Patriots wide receiver Romeo Doubs has been making waves with his positive take on star pass-catcher A.J. Brown during the team’s offseason program.
Doubs, who signed with the Patriots in free agency back in March after a solid run with the Green Bay Packers, has found himself in a revamped receiving corps that now features Brown as a centerpiece.

“It’s been amazing. I love AJ,” Doubs said. “He’s an amazing football player, but his human acts will inspire off the field. Both on and off the field. It’s something that I look up to deeply. I’ve watched his game, the ins and outs. His physicality, the way he catches the football, his catch radius. The way he runs his routes at his weight, it’s not normal. Again, he’s an amazing person to be around. I’m blessed to be around him.”
It’s refreshing to hear such genuine respect, blending both on-field skills and off-field character. Brown clearly brings more than just athletic ability to the locker room, and Doubs seems genuinely inspired by the example he’s setting.
Doubs himself is no slouch. Coming off his 2025 season with the Packers, he hauled in 55 receptions for 724 yards and six touchdowns. He showed impressive efficiency too, averaging 13.2 yards per catch and a strong 16.5 yards after the catch. Even in a crowded Green Bay receiving group, he proved he could be a reliable playmaker.
Now with the Patriots, Doubs looks poised to carve out a meaningful complementary role alongside Brown. The team’s offensive coordinator, Josh McDaniels, has a track record of getting the most out of receivers like Doubs.
One past example is Jakobi Meyers, who thrived in New England from 2019 to 2021 as an undrafted free agent. Meyers put up solid numbers during that stretch, including 83 catches for 866 yards and two touchdowns in 2021 alone, with 126 targets that year.
Doubs brings a similar profile—versatile, dependable, and capable of exploiting opportunities created by a more dominant receiver drawing defensive attention. That kind of pairing could give the Patriots a potent one-two punch in the passing game that they’ve been missing for some time.
Of course, the biggest winner in all this might be quarterback Drake Maye. After benefiting from a strong connection with Stefon Diggs last season, Maye now has another high-level option in Brown and a dependable secondary threat in Doubs.
