ESPN MLB analyst Paul Hembekides recently outlined one such scenario that would transfer Miller to Milwaukee in exchange for a substantial collection of talent heading to San Diego.
Under the proposed arrangement, the Padres would acquire outfielder Josh Adamczewski, outfielder Braylon Payne, right-handed pitcher Bishop Letson and outfielder Sal Frelick.
Adamczewski ranks as the Brewers’ No. 6 prospect and has posted a .292 average with five home runs, 20 RBIs and 15 walks in Double-A, compiling a .907 OPS that points to everyday potential at the major league level. Payne, listed as Milwaukee’s No. 8 prospect, is only 19 and competing at the High-A level, where the left-handed hitter has recorded a .288 average, 18 home runs, 49 RBIs, 21 stolen bases and a .958 OPS while displaying a blend of power and speed.
Letson, the system’s No. 10 prospect, stands 6-foot-4 and has registered a 4.28 ERA over 16 Double-A starts, striking out 68 batters in 69.1 innings with a power-oriented repertoire. Frelick, who debuted in the majors in 2023, has contributed steadily in Milwaukee’s outfield this year with a .236 average, four home runs, 34 RBIs and a .631 OPS.
The package would inject meaningful prospect depth into the Padres’ farm system by drawing from one of the stronger minor league organizations in baseball.
Adamczewski would headline the return as a potential future starter, while the remaining pieces add both upside and major league experience.
Given the quality of Milwaukee’s prospects, San Diego could reasonably seek an even stronger collection or a higher-ranked name before finalizing any agreement.
Overall, the framework presents a viable option for the Padres to consider as the deadline approaches and they evaluate how best to balance present contention with future roster construction.
