Jayden Reed recently secured a three-year agreement valued at $50.25 million, while Christian Watson inked a four-year deal worth $92 million. These commitments reflect the organization’s confidence in its young skill players, yet they also highlight the careful balancing act general manager Brian Gutekunst must navigate with limited salary cap resources.
Kraft, selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, has emerged as a productive performer early in his career. Over his first three seasons, he has tallied 104 receptions for 1,388 yards and 13 touchdowns, showcasing reliability as a pass-catcher and red-zone threat.
The 25-year-old is now recovering from a significant setback. He suffered a torn ACL in Week 9 of the 2025 campaign during a matchup against the Carolina Panthers. To that point, Kraft was one of the league’s most productive tight ends with 32 catches for 489 yards and six touchdowns in eight games.”
“The Packers could wait until Kraft is back on the field before doing an extension, but that also could become more costly if he picks up where he left off. Either way, a deal appears likely given that both sides have stated their desire to go forward together. It would not be a surprise if a lucrative extension is reached before the season.”
Pushing for an agreement now would allow the Packers to secure Kraft at a potentially more manageable figure. Should he demonstrate his pre-injury explosiveness and dependability throughout the regular season, negotiations later could prove far more expensive for the organization.
