Giants Linked to Huge QB Trade That Would Shock the NFL

The New York Giants need a quarterback, and while they have the No. 3 overall pick in the NFL Draft, there is no guarantee that there will be one available for them when they are on the clock.

Of course, the Giants signed both Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston this offseason, so their depth chart for 2025 is fairly set. They could still draft a quarterback later this month, but again, that ultimately depends on whether or not Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders are on the board.

Meanwhile, Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport has pitched a wild trade idea for the Giants, linking them to Indianapolis Colts signal-caller Anthony Richardson.

“Much like with the Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns, taking a run at Richardson could allow the Giants to have their cake and eat it,” Davenport wrote, referencing the fact that New York can trade for Richardson and then use the third overall selection on a different position. “With Wilson on the roster, the young quarterback could take a season to slow things down and develop as a passer under an offensive-minded former Coach of the Year in Brian Daboll.”

Davenport adds that “compensation could be tricky” in any potential move for Richardson, especially considering that the Colts took the 22-year-old fourth overall just two years ago.

However, Indianapolis certainly shouldn’t expect to land a first-round pick in exchange for Richardson at this point, so New York would probably offer a Day 2 pick among some other assets.

That being said, the chances of the Colts moving Richardson at this point are slim given how low his value is right now. He completed just 47.7 percent of his passes in 2024, and persistent injury issues have limited the University of Florida product to just 15 starts over his first two NFL seasons.

If Indianapolis does, in fact, place Richardson on the trade block, it would not be the least bit surprising to see the Giants get involved. Depending on the price, of course.
