NBA Veteran Calls Out Indiana Pacers Tyrese Haliburton

Indiana Pacers All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton has not been a consistent producer for the team. Against the New York Knicks in their Eastern Conference semifinals series, Haliburton has had some bizarre disappearing acts.

There have been ebbs and flows in his aggressiveness, as he has been nonexistent at points in this matchup. In Game 1, to set the tone in the series, he attempted only six shots, scoring six points with eight assists.

He was more aggressive in Game 2, scoring 34 points. But almost all of that came in the first half, as he was nowhere to be found when the team needed him most, suffering a backbreaking loss despite Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby getting hurt in the game.

In Games 3 and 4 at home, he looked more like the All-Star point guard Indiana Pacers fans have become accustomed to. He scored 55 points in those contests with 12 assists and 10 rebounds, putting his imprint on the games and talking trash.

But, in a pivotal Game 5 back at Madison Square Garden, Tyrese Haliburton was once again nowhere to be found. He was erased from the game by Miles McBride, scoring 13 points with five assists in the blowout loss.

After the game, Tyrese Haliburton was called out by Golden State Warriors star, Draymond Green. As a fill-in on TNT’s Inside the NBA telecast, Green let it be known how detrimental the effort level Haliburton showed in Game 5 can be for his team.

“You’re The Guy…Give an honest effort & compete…If you take the easy way out on the defensive end every chance you get, those guys you need to run through a brick wall ain’t running thru that brick wall, & you’re gonna be on your way home,” Green said during the telecast, via New York Basketball on X.

Green is 100 percent correct in the words he is sharing with Tyrese Haliburton. As a four-time NBA Champion, he knows exactly what it takes to reach the top and he isn’t seeing the required level of effort from Haliburton currently.

If the Indiana Pacers want to defeat the New York Knicks and advance to the Eastern Conference Finals, they need better effort from their best player. If he is taking it easy on defense and giving up easy baskets, it sets a poor precedent and his teammates will follow suit.
