Minnesota Vikings star wide receiver Justin Jefferson made his contract aspirations clear. He wanted to become a top-paid wide receiver, but one of the highest-paid players in the NFL.

On Monday, he got his wish. NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN shared that the two sides hammered out a historic contract. Justin Jefferson agreed to a four-year, $140 million deal with $110 million guaranteed.

At signing, the Minnesota Vikings owe their star $88.743 million. His representatives, WME Football, negotiated and confirmed the deal. Their client is now the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.

A booming wide receiver market has been reset by the deal the Minnesota Vikings and Justin Jefferson have worked out. His deal is great news for players who are next in line, such as Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase of the Cincinnati Bengals and Brandon Aiyuk of the San Francisco 49ers.

On the eve of the 2023 season, Minnesota offered Jefferson a contract that would have paid him $28 million annually. He turned that down, betting on himself to continue playing at a high level and that paid off.

His contract will now pay him $35 million annually, which is $1 million more than the previous non-quarterback high of defensive end Nick Bosa of the 49ers. Only 15 quarterbacks are currently higher paid than Justin Jefferson on an annual basis.

This unprecedented contract has been earned with his performance on the field. Justin Jefferson won the Offensive Player of the Year award for the 2022 season, shattering records in his first four seasons in the NFL.

The No. 22 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft is the best wide receiver currently in the league. If he keeps up the pace that he has been on, he will put himself in the conversation for best ever once it is all said and done.
