Ravens’ Lamar Jackson Makes Bold Statement Going Into Playoffs

Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson already has an NFL MVP award under his belt. He will probably take home the honor again this season. But he isn’t satisfied.

Speaking with Tom Brady on the Let’s Go Podcast this week, Jackson said that he absolutely feels he still has something to prove.

“I definitely do have that chip on my shoulder,” Jackson said. “I haven’t accomplished what I wanted to yet, so that’s why that chip is still on my shoulder. I want that Super Bowl. That’s the accolade that I really want so bad. … I feel like we have the team to do it. We have the guys in the building, coaching staff, training staff, equipment guys, we got everything we need right now.”

Jackson threw for 3,678 yards, 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions while completing 67.2 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 102.7 in 16 games this season. In addition, he rushed for 821 yards and five scores. Most importantly, he led the Ravens to the best record in football.

However, that won’t mean much of anything to Jackson unless he adds a championship ring to his display case.

Let’s remember: four years ago, Jackson took the football world by storm when he led the league with 36 touchdown passes and set the single-season quarterback rushing record with 1,206 yards. He also guided Baltimore to the NFL’s best record, much like this year. As a result, he won the MVP award.

But after all of that, Jackson and the Ravens were eliminated in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

The 26-year-old is looking to avoid the same feat this time around.

Thus far, Jackson has not had much postseason success, winning just one playoff game in four tries. Perhaps things will be different for Lamar Jackson and the Ravens this winter.

Baltimore earned a first-round bye, so it will be watching the rest of the AFC this weekend.
