NFL Scout Reveals Bold Take On Packers’ Jordan Love Before Week 16

The Green Bay Packers have watched their playoff hopes disappear in their last two games. After going on a three-game winning streak to force their way back into the postseason picture in the NFC, they have lost two games in a row to put their chances in jeopardy once again.

In Week 14, the Packers went on the road to face the New York Giants. It was a back-and-forth affair as Green Bay’s offense wasn’t clicking as it had been, likely because they were without running back Aaron Jones and wide receiver Christian Watson again.

But, Love did enough to have the team in a position to win. He led a touchdown drive that was finished with 1:33 remaining in the game, giving his team a 22-21 lead. Alas, that wasn’t enough to get the job done, as the defense was carved up by Tommy DeVito, who drove the Giants right down the field for a game-winning field goal from Randy Bullock as time expired.

In Week 15, the Packers returned home to host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In what amounted to a must-win game, Green Bay’s defense came out flat again. Baker Mayfield had a historic performance, putting together the best game for a visiting player in Lambeau Field history, leading his Buccaneers to a 34-20 victory.

There is a lot that the Packers will have to evaluate during the 2024 offseason. Building blocks exist on both sides of the ball, but there is still a little something missing. In the opinion of one NFL scout who spoke to NFL Analysis Network, the quarterback position is not one of those areas that need fixing. The scout believes in Love as the long-term starter.

“He’s proven everything that the Packers needed to see. This kid has what it takes to be special. I’m not saying he’s the third straight Hall of Fame quarterback in Green Bay, but I do think he has that kind of ceiling,” the scout said.

Love has certainly improved as the season has worn on. Despite injuries to the supporting cast around him, as the offensive line was hit hard at times and he hasn’t had his full complement of skill position players often, the 2020 first-round pick has weathered the storm.

Leading what is the youngest offense and overall roster in the NFL is a challenge, especially when Love himself was lacking in regular season experience. But, he has played well and shown incredible signs of improvement. With a few tweaks to the offense, things can run even more efficiently with Love under center in 2024.
