NFL Reporter Floats Seahawks Trade Idea For Jalen Hurts

Could the Seattle Seahawks make a play for Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts this offseason?

It may sound crazy, but in a potential world where Hurts asks for a trade, Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio thinks the Seahawks would make an interesting destination.

“You can throw the Seahawks in as well, depending who the new head coach is,” Florio told co-host Chris Simms on PFT Live. “You’ve got Geno Smith, where you have an opportunity to get out of the contract, and you could bring in Jalen Hurts if the new head coach decides ‘I think we can make things very special here with Jalen Hurts if he wants out of Philadelphia and needs a fresh start.’”

Well, let’s just start by saying this: there is absolutely no indication that Hurts wants out of Philly. Just because he showed some frustration during the second half of the season does not mean he wants the Eagles to trade him.

However, there is no doubt that Hurts seemed a bit aggravated during Philadelphia’s late slide, and reports even surfaced that his demeanor was becoming an issue in the locker room. He even questioned his teammates’ dedication.

“If Jalen Hurts decides that fresh start is needed for both, and they start having the conversations, the toughest part is finding a suitor,” added Florio. “If the team and the player decide, ‘time to go our separate ways,’ you’ve got to find someone who is willing to take on that contract.”

Last April, Philly signed Hurts to a five-year, $255 million contract extension, so, as Florio notes, moving him would not exactly be easy, especially coming off of the season he just had.

That being said, given that Jalen Hurts is still just 25 years old and is one year removed from finishing second in MVP voting, there would certainly be considerable interest in the signal-caller should the Eagles field trade offers for him.
