Raiders’ Davante Adams Doesn’t Hold Back On Kirk Cousins

Kirk Cousins is getting set to hit free agency this spring, and Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams may be pushing for his team to make a play for him.

During an appearance on the Two G’s in a Pod podcast this week, Adams was asked which quarterback he would like to play with. He responded by mentioning Cousins.

“I like a Kirk Cousins,” Adams said. “I think Kirk Cousins is a really good quarterback. As far as availability, I think Kirk is a good player.”

The Raiders are currently employing Aidan O’Connell under center, but O’Connell had a rather up and down rookie campaign after taking over as the starter midway through the season.

As a result, Las Vegas could be in the market for a signal-caller this offseason, and if Adams has any say in the matter, he may try to convince Raiders brass to pursue Cousins.

Cousins has spent his last six seasons with the Minnesota Vikings and will certainly be one of the biggest names on the open market in March, but he does not come without baggage.

The veteran will be 36 years old at the start of next season, and this past year, he tore his Achilles in Week 8. Given his age and the fact that he is on the mend from a major injury, it stands to reason that Cousins may not be the same player in 2024.

Of course, the potential for a Cousins-Adams duo is tantalizing.

Prior to going down in 2023, Cousins was in the middle of a brilliant campaign, having thrown for 2,331 yards, 18 touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 69.5 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 103.8.

He was certainly better than anything the Raiders had to offer at quarterback, and he may very well have ended up being an MVP candidate had he remained healthy.

We’ll see if Davante Adams pushes Las Vegas to make a play for Kirk Cousins in a couple of months.
