Ravens’ Lamar Jackson Sends Bold Warning To NFL Before Week 18

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson does not want to hear about 2019 anymore.

Four years ago, Jackson won the NFL MVP award as the Ravens finished with the best record in football. However, Baltimore ended up losing to the Tennessee Titans in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

This season, Jackson and the Ravens find themselves in a very similar situation.

Jackson is the frontrunner to take home MVP honors yet again while Baltimore enters Week 18 with the top record in the league.

But Jackson is tired of comparing 2023 to 2019.

“2019 is over with,” Jackson said, via Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. “We’re always talking about it. I always find myself talking about it, but it’s different. That was just my first full season [starting] in the NFL and my second year in the league, at that. But it’s a different mindset, a different group of guys. I just feel like all around, we’re different.”

While Jackson may bristle at his first MVP campaign constantly being mentioned, he understands why it gets brought up in conversation—especially this year.

“We were 14-2. It looked like we were going to be unbeaten,” Jackson said. “I felt like all phases were just playing at the top of our game at the time. I don’t know where it was when we just hit a hump. We just couldn’t get it done that January, but I strongly feel like this year it’ll be different.”

The 26-year-old added that the Ravens “have to let that go” and that this is a “different atmosphere” than the one that was in Baltimore four years ago.

Lamar Jackson will not be playing in the Ravens’ season finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers, as Baltimore has already locked up home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs.

We’ll see if the Ravens will have better postseason results this time around.
