Falcons Considered Best Landing Spot For Justin Fields

The Chicago Bears may end up trading Justin Fields this offseason, and if they do, the Atlanta Falcons could be one of the teams at the front of the line.

Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine has named the Falcons as the best possible destination for Fields in the event of a trade, and given Atlanta’s current quarterback situation, it makes plenty of sense.

The Falcons employed both Desmond Ridder and Taylor Heinicke under center in 2023, and neither player showed much of anything. The club was hoping Ridder would be its signal-caller of the future, but Ridder ended up getting benched in favor of Heinicke during the second half of the season.

Heinicke is not exactly young and did not play well when given the opportunity this year, so if the Falcons are going to move on from Ridder, they will need an adequate replacement.

Fields can provide that for them.

The 25-year-old is coming off of a 2023 campaign in which he played 13 games and threw for 2,562 yards, 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions while completing 61.4 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 86.3. He also rushed for 657 yards and four scores while averaging 5.3 yards per carry.

He missed four games due to a dislocated thumb, which occurred after Fields put together a couple of fantastic performances in Weeks 4 and 5.

While there is no question that Fields has talent, consistency has always been a major issue for the Ohio State product ever since he was taken with the 11th overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft.

The Bears own the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft (via the Carolina Panthers), so they may just take another quarterback and move Fields. If that occurs, the Falcons would absolutely represent an interesting fit.

Of course, Atlanta has more issues than just the quarterback position, but solving that problem would go a long way in helping the Falcons reach the next level.

We’ll see if Justin Fields can be the answer they need this offseason.
