Report: Lakers, Knicks, Rockets, Kings Interested In Trading For Hawks’ Clint Capela

According to NBA insider Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, the Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, Houston Rockets and Sacramento Kings are interested in trading for Atlanta Hawks center Clint Capela.

The Hawks are motivated to move Capela this season.

“For Capela, an influx of playoff-contending teams have already begun to show a level of interest, with the Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, Houston Rockets, and Sacramento Kings named as possible suitors for the veteran center, sources said,” Siegel wrote.

Capela is averaging 11.4 points, 10.5 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.6 steals and 1.7 blocks this season while shooting 57.7% from the field and 64.7% from the free-throw line. He has 17 double-doubles and is making $20.6 million.

The Lakers are in 10th place in the Western Conference standings, the Knicks are in seventh place in the Eastern Conference standings, the Rockets are in 11th place in the West and the Kings are in fifth place in the West.

The Hawks are in 11th place in the East. They are expected to trade Capela and point guard Dejounte Murray before the trade deadline, which is on February 8.

Capela, who began his career with the Rockets, has career averages of 12.3 points, 10.7 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.7 steals and 1.5 blocks with Houston and Atlanta. The big man signed a two-year, $45.4 million extension with the Hawks in September 2021.

Capela will make $22.3 million next season. He will become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2025.
