Suns’ Kevin Durant Ruled Out vs. Blazers Amid Hamstring Injury

The Phoenix Suns have ruled out Kevin Durant for Monday’s matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers due to discomfort in his right hamstring, per Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.

Earlier in the season, Durant had to take time off due to an ankle issue, though it didn’t keep him away for an extended period. However, given his history of missing the 2019-20 season and not playing over 55 games in any season since then, any injury is a cause for concern.

Durant’s impact on the court is undeniable. He is widely recognized as one of the NBA’s all-time greats, boasting an impressive career that includes two NBA championships, two NBA Finals MVP awards, a league MVP, a Rookie of the Year title, four scoring titles, ten selections to the All-NBA team, thirteen All-Star appearances, and a place on the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team.

This season, Durant has continued to excel with the Suns. Over 28 games, he’s averaged 29.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 1.1 blocks. He’s also been efficient in shooting, with a 52.5 percent field goal percentage and a 47.7 percent success rate from three-point range.

While Durant’s absence is a significant loss for Phoenix, the team still has considerable talent in players like Devin Booker and Bradley Beal. It’s been a struggle to have all three stars in the lineup simultaneously, with Durant being sidelined as the latest snag in that process.

They are expected to lead the team during Durant’s recovery. Players like Josh Okogie, Chimezie Metu, and Yuta Watanabe will likely get more playing time in Durant’s absence.

The next chance for Durant to return to the lineup will be on Wednesday when the Suns host the Los Angeles Clippers in continuation of a six-game homestand.
