Luka Doncic, Giannis Antetokounmpo Named NBA Players Of The Week

The NBA recently honored Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic and Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo as the Western and Eastern Conference Player of the Week.

This recognition marks the first time in the 2023-24 season that both players have received this weekly award. Doncic has now been acknowledged as the Western Conference Player of the Week 10 times in his career, while Antetokounmpo has achieved this honor 22 times for the Eastern Conference.

Doncic, battling the challenge of injured teammates, including Kyrie Irving, led the Mavericks to a 3-1 record over the week. His outstanding performance included averaging 36.8 points, 8.0 rebounds, 11.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game, with impressive shooting percentages, going 49.0 percent from the field, 35.9 from the perimeter, and 96.9 percent on free throws. At the time, the Mavs held the No. 3 seed in the West with a 16-9 record.

Antetokounmpo propelled the Bucks to an undefeated week with his averages of 36.0 points, 12.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.8 steals per game while shooting an exceptional 63.9% from the field. Thanks to his efforts, Milwaukee held the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference with a 19-7 record.

Other notable players who were considered for the weekly accolade included Anthony Davis, Kawhi Leonard, Keegan Murray, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Zion Williamson from the Western Conference, and Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Joel Embiid, and Donovan Mitchell from the Eastern Conference, as per the NBA’s announcement.
