One NBA writer is proposing that the Detroit Pistons acquire DeMar DeRozan from the Chicago Bulls.

Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Pistons and Bulls:

DeMar DeRozan for Joe Harris, Killian Hayes and a top-five protected 2026 first-round pick

The Pistons are in the market for a forward, according to NBA insider James L. Edwards III of The Athletic. Since DeRozan is in the final year of his contract and the Bulls haven’t offered him an extension, Bailey thinks the Pistons should make a trade for DeRozan.

“He wouldn’t solve the team’s massive issue with outside shooting, but his ability to handle the ball and engineer individual possessions would take some pressure off Cade Cunningham, who’s been a turnover machine this season,” Bailey wrote. “The Pistons wouldn’t be under the illusion that a move like this would suddenly make them a play-in contender, but DeRozan has been on a lot of winning teams in his career. In the short term, he can at least help this young core avoid getting too used to losing.”

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: DeMar DeRozan, Chicago Bulls, Detroit Pistons Updates

The Pistons have the worst record in the NBA at 2-24. They have lost 23 games in a row. Their last win came against the Bulls on October 28.

DeRozan is averaging 22.5 points, 3.6 rebounds and 5.2 assists this season while shooting 44.4% from the field, 36.8% from beyond the arc and 82.3% from the free-throw line.

The Pistons could start Cade Cunningham, DeRozan, Bojan Bogdanovic, Isaiah Stewart and Marvin Bagley III. Jalen Duren would replace Bagley III in the starting lineup once he recovers from his ankle injury.

DeRozan has career averages of 21.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.0 assists with the Toronto Raptors, San Antonio Spurs and Bulls. He’s one of the top scorers in NBA history. It will be fascinating to see if the USC product is traded this season.
