Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins has gotten off to a scintillating start this season, and people have taken notice.

Count Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon among them.

In a recent piece where Gagnon offers one take for all 32 NFL teams heading into Week 5, he chose to focus on Collins when examining the Texans.

“Nico Collins is on pace for more than 2,000 yards. It’s early, but he’s proved last year wasn’t a fluke and reached elite wide receiver status,” Gagnon wrote.

Through the first four games, Collins leads the league with 489 receiving yards and has logged 30 catches and a couple of touchdowns.

The 25-year-old has posted well over 100 yards in three of the first four weeks, topping out at 151 yards on 12 grabs in last Sunday’s win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Collins, who played his collegiate football at the University of Michigan, was selected by Houston in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

He didn’t make much of an impact in either of his first two seasons, catching 33 passes for 446 yards and a score during his rookie campaign and then snaring 37 balls for 481 yards and a pair of touchdowns in 2022.

But last season, Collins broke out, hauling in 80 receptions for 1,297 yards while reaching the end zone eight times.

Many wondered if Collins’ touches would dip in 2024 with the Texans’ addition of Stefon Diggs plus the return of a healthy Tank Dell, but the opposite appears to have occurred.

Collins has already accumulated 43 targets, which puts him on pace for 183 on the year. For reference, the Birmingham, Al. native was targeted just 109 times last season.

We’ll see if the Houston Texans continue to feed Nico Collins against the Buffalo Bills this Sunday.
