The Indiana Fever have established themselves among the WNBA’s stronger clubs this season, posting an 18-10 record that ranks fifth in the league.
That success has been built around a talented core headlined by Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell. Still, with the trade deadline arriving Sunday, the franchise is weighing whether additional roster moves could strengthen its championship pursuit.
Frontcourt depth ranks among the areas where improvement appears most needed. Myisha Hines-Allen and Damiris Dantas have delivered limited production, leaving the team short on reliable options behind its primary bigs.
One name that has surfaced as a potential solution is Los Angeles Sparks forward Cameron Brink. Nathaniel Holloway of The Spun came up with the suggestion for the Fever.
The Sparks have endured a difficult campaign, standing at 10-17, a record that has placed large portions of their roster under trade speculation.
Brink, in particular, has drawn attention as a candidate who could be moved before the deadline and who might complement Indiana’s existing group.
In one possible scenario from Holloway, the Fever could package Tyasha Harris, Grace VanSlooten, a 2027 first-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick to acquire the Sparks forward. Such a deal would inject a versatile piece into Indiana’s frontcourt.
Brink has shown the ability to anchor the defense in the paint while contributing offensively alongside skilled teammates. Through 19 games this season, the 24-year-old is averaging 9.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.5 steals. She is converting 49.2 percent of her field-goal attempts and 34.0 percent of her three-point tries.
Those numbers reflect a player still finding consistency yet capable of impacting both ends of the floor. As a former second overall draft selection, Brink carries the pedigree of a high-upside addition who could help elevate a contending roster.
Indiana’s decision, however, is complicated by her injury record. Brink has appeared in just 53 games across her first three WNBA seasons, raising questions about long-term availability.
Team executives must balance the immediate defensive and scoring boost she could provide against the risk of further absences. The Fever’s current standing already positions them for a strong postseason run, so any move would need to clearly improve their odds without introducing excessive uncertainty.
Clark’s playmaking, Boston’s interior presence and Mitchell’s scoring already give Indiana a formidable foundation. Adding a rim protector and secondary scorer of Brink’s profile could create more matchup problems for opponents in the later rounds.
Yet the Sparks’ willingness to part with the young forward remains uncertain, and other clubs may also be monitoring her availability. Any negotiation would likely involve competing offers and careful evaluation of future draft capital.
With the deadline now only days away, Indiana faces a narrow window to decide whether to stand pat with its present group or pursue a significant frontcourt upgrade. The choice could shape the trajectory of a season that has already exceeded many early expectations.
Brink’s combination of length, mobility and shooting touch offers a stylistic fit with the Fever’s preferred pace and spacing. If healthy, she could free Boston to operate more freely while providing another option to close games.
At the same time, the organization’s medical staff would need to thoroughly assess her injury history before finalizing any agreement. Past absences have limited her development and raised concerns about durability under the physical demands of a full WNBA schedule.
Ultimately, the Fever’s front office must weigh short-term contention against longer-term roster stability. An 18-10 record affords them the luxury of patience, yet the presence of a high-ceiling talent like Brink on the trade market creates an opportunity that will not remain open indefinitely.
