The Philadelphia Eagles have waived cornerback Jakorian Bennett, according to a report from Tom Pelissero of The Ringer.

The move ends the fourth-year defensive back’s tenure in Philadelphia after a limited and injury-interrupted stretch that never allowed him to carve out a consistent role.

Bennett, who turns 26 this season, arrived in the NFL as a fourth-round selection of the Las Vegas Raiders in 2023 (No. 104 overall).

A three-year starter at Maryland after beginning his college career at Hutchinson Community College, he earned honorable-mention All-Big Ten recognition in his final two seasons with the Terrapins.

He entered the league on a standard four-year rookie contract worth roughly $4.66 million that included an $823,594 signing bonus.

In August 2025 the Raiders sent him to the Eagles in exchange for defensive tackle Thomas Booker.

The deal was viewed as a depth acquisition for Philadelphia’s secondary, pairing the relatively experienced Bennett with a group that already featured promising young corners.

His first year in green, however, produced only modest returns: he appeared in 11 games, primarily in a reserve and special-teams capacity, and finished with seven total tackles and one pass deflection.

The 2026 season proved even more challenging. Bennett suffered a knee injury during training camp and was placed on injured reserve before the opener.

The Eagles opened his 21-day practice window on October 14, giving him a chance to return, yet he was never activated to the 53-man roster.

He was ruled out for recent contests, including the matchup against the Washington Commanders, and the practice window was set to close in early November.

Rather than keep him on injured reserve for the remainder of the year or absorb the associated roster constraints, Philadelphia elected to waive him.

The decision reflects the realities of a crowded and often injury-hit cornerback room as well as the practicalities of the injured-reserve rules.

Bennett never established himself as more than a depth piece in Philadelphia, and the combination of limited production and ongoing recovery issues made further investment difficult to justify.

For Bennett, the waiver opens the possibility of landing elsewhere if another club sees value in his speed and college pedigree; for the Eagles, it clears a roster spot as they continue managing injuries and evaluating the rest of their secondary.
