Reality television personality and model Suede Brooks recently shared details of her brief romantic involvement with Canadian rapper Drake during an appearance on Bunnie X’s Dumb Blonde podcast.
Brooks, known for her role on Calabasas Confidential, described a relationship that began on a high note but ended with significant emotional strain and alleged threats that left her fearing for her safety.
Brooks explained that their connection originated in the summer of 2022 when Drake performed at a friend’s yacht party in Saint-Tropez. What started as a hookup evolved into an on-and-off dating period lasting several months. She traveled to Toronto to spend time with him and even met his mother during this time.
At the time, Brooks was in her early 20s and found the experience exciting, noting Drake’s larger-than-life persona and demanding schedule. However, the long-distance aspect eventually took its toll. “He lives such a big, fulfilled, busy life,” she recalled. “I personally couldn’t keep up with that.”
She pushed back against any narrative suggesting she pursued him aggressively, emphasizing that Drake had entered her social circle for the performance rather than the other way around.
Brooks described the split as stemming from mutual incompatibility rather than major drama at first. She portrayed Drake positively overall but highlighted a troubling period afterward due to what she called a “big miscommunication.”
According to Brooks, Drake believed she had been speaking negatively about him in Los Angeles, which led to a series of alarming text messages.
She claimed he threatened to have others “fold [her] up,” language she interpreted as a serious physical threat.
At just 21 or 22 years old, Brooks said the messages from one of the world’s most influential artists felt particularly intimidating given his resources and reach. “When you hear those things said to you… it was very scary,” she stated. As a result, she remained indoors for about three months, avoiding going out in Los Angeles out of fear.
Despite the frightening experience, Brooks emphasized personal growth on both sides and expressed no ongoing animosity. She described Drake as having a “great heart” and wished him well in finding a compatible long-term partner. “It wasn’t me,” she said, explaining that she ultimately stepped away because she couldn’t meet the demands of his lifestyle.
Brooks also made it clear that she does not maintain contact with past romantic partners, including Drake.
As of now, Drake has not publicly commented on Brooks’ account of their relationship or the alleged messages.
