2024 has been a massive year for Dana White and the UFC. They had a milestone PPV with UFC 300 that featured headlining bouts up and down the card. Several of the undercard fights and preliminary bouts could have been main events for other cards.

Later this year, fans will get to see the return of Conor McGregor to the Octagon for the first time in two years. On Wednesday, Dana White also announced another massive card set for this summer.

On August 3, the UFC will be returning to Abu Dhabi for a loaded Fight Night card. Dana White announced the card earlier on Wednesday and fans will be excited. The biggest announcement is the return of MMA legend, Nick Diaz.

The older brother of Nate Diaz will be making his return to the UFC for the first time since September 2021. It is a shocking development, as Nick admitted during the lead-up to his fight against Robbie Lawler that he wasn’t excited to compete again.

He will be facing off against welterweight contender Vincente Luque. Luque has lost three out of his last four bouts but remains a dangerous opponent at 155 pounds. That will be a five-round co-main event.

The headliner for Fight Night in Abu Dhabi will be a bantamweight matchup between Cory Sandhagen and Umar Nurmagomedov. Dana White said this is a No. 1 contender’s match, as the winner will take on the winner between Sean O’Malley and Merab Dvalishvili. Nurmagomedov is the cousin of Khabib Nurmagomedov, who is considered by many to be the best UFC fighter ever.

Rounding out the main card is a fight between former bantamweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo and Marlon “Chito” Vera. A flyweight bout between Mackenzie Dern and Loopy Godinez was also announced.

August 3rd could also be the last time we see Tony Ferguson in a UFC octagon. He is set to face Michael Chiesa in a welterweight match. This will all be going down at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, where the UFC hosted ‘Fight Island’ during the COVID-19 pandemic.
