Cowboys Linked to Explosive Weapon to Help Dak Prescott

The Dallas Cowboys could definitely afford to add some wide receivers for Dak Prescott, especially after losing Brandin Cooks in free agency. Right now, they have CeeDee Lamb and not a whole lot else.

The problem is that the Cowboys have been unable to land anyone of significance this offseason, which means they may have to turn their attention to the NFL Draft next month.

Dallas is widely expected to select a receiver, but whether or not it does so with the 12th overall pick remains to be seen. The Cowboys may choose to net a wide out on Day 2, and evidently, they may be zeroing in on a prime target: Oregon Ducks star Tez Johnson.

New Dallas wide receivers coach Junior Adams was recently at Oregon’s Pro Day to watch Johnson, who is viewed by many as one of the biggest sleepers at his position in this year’s draft class.

A rather pedestrian showing at the Scouting Combine was a bit concerning, as the 5-foot-10 Johnson ran a 4.51-second 40-yard dash. But you can’t really argue with his production.

Johnson put together a couple of very strong seasons with the Ducks to end his collegiate career, hauling in 86 receptions for 1,182 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2023 and following that up by catching 83 passes for 898 yards and 10 scores this past year.

The 22-year-old is likely not going to become a No. 1 receiver on the NFL level, but he could ultimately become a lethal weapon out of the slot, which the Cowboys could definitely use to help supplement Lamb in the aerial attack.
