Colts Send Anthony Richardson to Hated Rival in Stunning Trade Proposal

The Anthony Richardson era has not exactly gotten off to a great start for the Indianapolis Colts, as there is already talk of the Colts moving on from the young quarterback after just two seasons.

While Indianapolis hasn’t exactly put Richardson in the best position to succeed, it’s hard to overlook the fact that he completed just 47.7 percent of his passes in 2024. At that point, it doesn’t really matter how bad your supporting pieces are; that’s just bad.

As a result, trade speculation is swirling around Richardson, and Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport has put together a shocking package in which the Colts would send Richardson, the 14th overall pick, a fifth-round draft pick and a 2026 first-rounder to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for the No. 1 overall selection.

“Given Richardson’s lack of development in Indianapolis, he probably wouldn’t draw first-round value in a trade if dealt alone,” Davenport wrote. “However, a young quarterback, two first-round picks and a fifth-round sweetener might be enough to convince the Titans to move into the middle of Round 1.”

Would it though? The Titans could simply just take Cam Ward at the top of the draft rather than moving the pick and acquiring Richardson. Ward is widely viewed as the best signal-caller in this year’s class, and he doesn’t already have the disastrous track record—nor the injury history—that Richardson possesses.

Yes, the extra draft capital is enticing, but at the same time, would Tennessee really want to hand Ward to its AFC South rival? It just doesn’t seem like the Titans would seriously consider. It’s a proposal that reeks of “are we there yet?” rather than anything realistic.

Of course, Tennessee may listen to the Colts if they call. That’s standard procedure. However, the idea of the Titans seeing Ward twice a year in their own division just doesn’t seem like something they will actively pursue, and Anthony Richardson is not exactly all that appealing right now.
