With the MLB Trade Deadline getting closer and closer, recent MLB rumors have been about what the Chicago White Sox might do with Luis Robert Jr.

It has been nothing short of an awful season for the Chicago White Sox. Chicago is by far the worst team in baseball this season, and they appear to be willing to move just about anyone for the right price.

While there has been a lot of talk about Garrett Crochet being moved, Luis Robert Jr.’s name has also been floated around. Robert is arguably the best player on the White Sox, and also one with some upside still.

Despite the White Sox being sellers this summer, Robert might not be one of the players they look to move according to recent reports. Here’s what Ken Rosenthal and others had to say via Bleacher Report.

According to Ken Rosenthal, Will Sammon, and Patrick Mooney of The Athletic, many MLB talent evaluators view Robert “as the kind of dynamic player who can improve any team,” but there are some concerns, including the fact that he only has one huge statistical year to his credit thus far.

Rosenthal, Sammon, and Mooney also reported that opposing teams believe the White Sox are in “no rush” to trade Robert since it may be easier for them to get the types of offers they desire during the offseason.

In 2024, Robert is not having the same season as last year, as he has played in just 22 games so far. However, while his batting average is under .200, he does have seven home runs in that small sample size.

Luis Robert Jr. is coming off a 2023 season in which he totaled 38 home runs, 80 RBIs, and batted .264. It was an excellent season for Robert last season and one of the reasons why he is held in high regard.

Trading Robert now might not be making the move at the most opportune time. With his struggles and lack of playing this season, the Chicago White Sox would be selling low on a talented young player. Unless a big offer comes in, it appears like Chicago might wait until the winter.
