Miller is predicting the Blue Jays to sign Rogers to a four-year deal worth $114 million, with the final year structured as a $30 million club option. That’s a rather surprising, hefty price for Rogers, who owns a 4.20 ERA this season.
For a franchise that has spent recent seasons trying to stabilize its rotation behind a mix of proven veterans and younger arms, the idea of adding Rogers carries real appeal.
At 28, he still sits in the heart of what should be his prime. When healthy and locked in, Rogers has shown the ability to dominate. Strip away a rough stretch earlier this season and his body of work over the past year-plus points to a pitcher capable of delivering quality starts on a consistent basis.
